SCOPE:
The Marketing & Communications Specialist is a shared-position role responsible for leading strategic communications and marketing initiatives for the Hospice Foundation (75% allocation) and Hospice organization (25% allocation).
This position plays a critical role in strengthening community awareness, donor engagement, brand consistency, and mission-driven storytelling across both entities. The Specialist develops and implements the Foundation’s annual communications strategy and supports the Hospice with essential marketing, digital presence, and public relations efforts.
The ideal candidate is strategic, creative, highly organized, and sensitive to the mission of hospice care.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Hospice Foundation (75%)
- Annual Communications Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement a comprehensive annual communications and marketing strategy aligned with fundraising goals and donor engagement objectives.
- Create and manage an annual communications calendar.
- Establish measurable goals and performance metrics for campaigns.
- Ensure brand consistency across all Foundation materials and channels.
- Social Media Strategy& Management
- Develop and execute an annual social media plan to support fundraising campaigns, events, donor stewardship, and awareness initiatives.
- Create and curate mission-driven content, including stories, impact highlights, and campaign promotions.
- Monitor engagement analytics and adjust strategy to optimize reach and impact.
- Manage social media advertising budgets as needed.
- Budget Development & Oversight
- Develop and manage the annual communications and marketing budget for the Hospice and Foundation.
- Track expenses and ensure cost-effective production of materials and campaigns.
- Coordinate with vendors, printers, designers, and media outlets.
- Communication, Marketing & Campaign Production
- Lead the development, design coordination, and production of all Foundation print and digital materials, including:
- Case for Support
- Campaign brochures
- Event marketing
- Event collateral
- Donor impact reports
- Newsletters
- Plan and execute the annual Holiday Giving Campaign, including:
- Direct mail appeal development
- Messaging and storytelling
- Print coordination and mailing logistics
- Digital campaign integration
- Performance tracking and reporting
- Brand Stewardship& Storytelling
- Collect and develop compelling stories that demonstrate donor impact and hospice mission outcomes.
- Collaborate with development staff to align communications with fundraising priorities.
- Ensure consistent visual identity and messaging across all Foundation materials.
Hospice Organization (25%)
- Social Media & Website Management
- Conceptualize, create, and schedule social media content for hospice programs, client stories, and hospice moments to create awareness
- Maintain and update the Hospice website with accurate program, service, and contact information.
- Post news updates, educational resources, and event information.
- Ensure website content reflects current branding and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with external web vendors as needed.
- Print & Digital Materials
- Produce and update brochures, fact sheets, referral materials, and educational resources.
- Develop materials to support patient/family education and community outreach.
- Ensure materials are accessible, clear, and aligned with hospice standards.
- Recognition & Community Events
- Assist with planning and promotion of recognition events and community awareness activities.
- Support communication needs for hospice-hosted awareness events.
- Ensure appropriate branding and messaging at community functions.
Shared Responsibilities:
- Maintain brand alignment and clarity between Hospice and Foundation communications.
- Coordinate media inquiries and maintain local media relationships - draft and distribute press releases related to hospice milestones, leadership updates, fundraising initiatives, and events.
- Support leadership with messaging and presentation materials as needed.
- Monitor communications trends and recommend innovative approaches.
- Maintain organized digital asset libraries and documentation.
- Uphold confidentiality and sensitivity related to patients, families, and donors.

- Working both independently and with the support of volunteers

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in nonprofit marketing, communications, or public relations.
- Experience managing multi-channel communication campaigns.
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong project management and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in social media management tools and analytics platforms (Hootsuite, MetaBusiness Suite).
- Experience coordinating print production and vendor relationships.
- Website content management system (CMS) experience.
- E-Mail marketing experience (ConstantContact).
- Graphic design knowledge (Adobe Creative Suite or Canva) preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities.
- Experience working in a non-profit, volunteer-driven environment

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Physical ability to carry out duties as required including standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling/crouching, squatting, bending, lifting (up to 35lbs), pushing and pulling
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within an interprofessional team
- Ability to prioritize in an active clinical environment with frequent disruptions
- Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector check
- Valid driver's license and appropriate vehicle
TRAINING & SCREENING REQUIREMENTS:
- Completed Privacy and Confidentiality Form
- Yearly completed MHH Annual Declaration Form
- Complete annual training as directed by MHH
TIME COMMITMENT:
- Monday– Friday 37.5 hours. Evenings and weekends as needed for events.
